Fern Haven Center is a nonprofit educational program center, located in the Olympia, Washington, area.

Our Vision: to cultivate our full individual and community potential for peace, harmony, and creative contribution to life.

Our Mission: to offer public workshops, trainings, classes, groups, community events, and counseling services in these areas:

Spiritual Development & Personal Growth --- Creative & Intuitive Arts

Communication & Relationships --- Community Building

Women's Support --- Organizational Well-being

The Center was started by, and is directed by Suska Davis, Ph.D., and her partner, Rod Davis, Ph.D. It was incorporated in Washington state as a nonprofit on January 28, 2005, and attained 501(c)(3) status with the IRS one year later, backdated to the date of incorporation. After several years of getting up and running on a minimal budget and operating out of their home and property outside Olympia while renting facilities for larger workshops and events, Fern Haven is now ready to grow in 2008.

We are actively looking to attract both funding and inspired, committed partners. We seek people who resonate in their hearts with our vision and mission and who can bring responsible, dedicated energy to the collaborative process and challenge of gradually building the Center as a service to our community and society and as a right livelihood endeavor for those who shepherd it. We want to expand our programs and services, open an office and workshop space in downtown Olympia, and build a solid financial and organizational basis for growth. For more information on becoming involved and helping Fern Haven grow, see the "Join us" page.

Fern Haven Center is based on a vision of each person's unlimited capacity to grow and contribute to Life. We seek to create, both figuratively and physically, a "haven," a place for nuturing peace, beauty, creativity, and connection as we journey toward the realization of our true potential. Our programs are designed to help us access tools, strategies, and pathways for transformation and awakening, and to.....

Deepen passion, purpose, and commitment in our life-journey

Make our work a creative, imaginative contribution to life

Acquire tools and skills for growth and renewal

Build community - connect authentically - grow together

Develop daily life strategies to actualize peace and harmony

Explore the uncharted territory of our spiritual and creative potential

Suska Davis, Ph.D., has been teaching interpersonal communication skills for many years and uses them as both counselor and mediator. She is a trainer for PSNCC (Puget Sound Network for Compassionate Communication), a Seattle-based organization that teaches and promotes NVC (Nonviolent Communication), which is being used worldwide to create meaningful, honest, empathy-based connection between people. She has pioneered original research in collaborative process and enjoys using circle-based activities that stimulate group creativity and harmony. Suska is also an accomplished sculptor and artist, and teaches creative and intuitive process to individuals and groups. She has much experience teaching SoulCollage for women, as well as other activities and themes specifically geared to women.

Rod Davis has completed a Ph.D. in East-West Psychology at CIIS (Calif. Inst. of Integral Studies) in San Francisco. He is a long-time student of the meditation-based yoga tradition, as well as spiritual traditions worldwide. He is the author of Reaching True Peace: 7 Universal Realms of Spiritual Development, released in Fall 2004 by Fern Haven Press. By integrating hard-won knowledge and experience of spiritual development with training in modern depth psychology, he brings an integrity and vitality to his counseling and teaching work that really makes a difference. His focus: to touch the core motivations in each person, the sources of power, inspiration, and creative endeavor. Both deep and refreshingly practical, Rod inspires and challenges audiences to live and work with passion and purpose, and to reach for their highest ideal.
